What it is
An ankle sprain stretches or tears the ligaments on the outside (or sometimes inside) of the ankle, usually from rolling it. Good rehab matters, because poorly rehabbed sprains often become recurrent.
Signs and symptoms
- Pain and swelling after twisting the ankle
- Bruising around the ankle
- Difficulty weight-bearing or walking
- A feeling of instability on uneven ground
