What it is
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) helps stabilise the knee. An ACL injury often happens with a twist or awkward landing in sport, and rehabilitation is central to recovery whether or not you have surgery.
Signs and symptoms
- A pop or giving-way at the time of injury
- Swelling in the first hours or days
- A feeling the knee is unstable
- Difficulty with cutting, pivoting or landing
